CWG Process - Deed Word Thought From Conversations With God Book 1: "Do you remember the old adage, 'Think before you act?' Well forget it. If you want to change a root thought, you have to act before you think." In CWG book 1 God tells the story of Neale Walshe not giving money to a bag lady because by the time he decided how much to give her he has already passed her, the moment has gone and he is too embarrassed to go back and give her only nickels and dimes. The sponsoring thought behind Neale's action is "there is not enough". What God proposes is by taking action first he will train his mind to understand there is enough. In other words we change our sponsoring thought by taking the action first then thinking about the action we have taken. This is similar to the concepts of "fire, aim, ready" or "leap before you look", these are concepts practiced by many (maybe most?) successful entrepreneurs. Using NLP we are able to experience and test our experience of future events before they happen (remembering everything is happening at once anyway!). The purpose of this process is to make the decision to take action having experience how good it feels to have taken the action. The decision could be said to be made in "future retrospect". This way we are distorting time by taking action first, finding the beliefs which support that action and then making the decision to take the action. In effect we are eliminating the decision making process which is the point at which most people get stuck. Guidelines for the Process As with the other processes it is important to establish a point where the Explorer can step out of the process and comfortably release any energy if they become uncomfortable, this is the "Earth Point". It is also important the Explorer firmly anchors their experience of their Greatest Vision and their Next Grandest Version from the Soul Mind Body Integration Process before proceeding with the rest of this process. The purpose the of the Deed space is to establish a significant action the Explorer will take on the journey to their Next Grandest Version. This action will be a stepping stone and is likely to be in some way a challenge to the Explorer as by definition the Next Grandest Version is going to be a stretch. As an example let's say the Explorers deed or action is "speaking out" and they experience this as talking to a large group of people on a topic about which they feel passionate but know the subject is controversial and will therefore be challenging for them to present to an audience. As the Guide get a full description of the event for example: How big is the room? How many people are there? Where is this taking place? How does the audience respond to the presentation? Having established the nature of the Deed the Explorer should fully experience performing this deed. As the Guide ensure that the Explorer uses associative language and uses all their representational systems to describe themselves engaging in this action. It is important the Explorer has the experience of performing this deed "in the muscle". Now we are looking for the beliefs and values the Explorer holds while performing this deed or action. The wording of the questions "What do you believe to be true while you are speaking out?" and "What do you know to be important while you are speaking out?" is significant. The word "while" is the crucial word here because it invites the Explorer to find the beliefs and values which are significant specifically in the context of "speaking out" and maybe only experienced while speaking out. For example the Explorer might say "I have something to say that people want to hear", this is a belief statement that is specific to the context of "speaking out" it may not be an appropriate belief to hold in the context of a midnight stroll through the park! An example of a value statement would be "it is important that I am open while speaking out". As the Guide it is important to note the exact words used when expressing these beliefs and values. The Explorer should experience the deed or action being completed and the outcome matching or exceeding their expectations. In this case the Explorer may experience receiving a standing ovation and people coming up at the end congratulating them and asking questions. Stepping into the Word space the Explorer comes back to the present bringing the beliefs and values from the Deed space with them. The Explorer now restates the belief and value statements in the present tense. Using our example here these would become "when I speak out I have something to say that people want to hear" for the belief and "when I speak out it is important I am open". There are a number of ways the words can be moved around the important factor is to include the belief or value and the context in sentence in the present tense. The Guide's role now is to carefully watch the Explorer for verbal and non-verbal signs of incongruence while they state the beliefs and values aloud. If the Explorer is not able to fully own the words in this space invite them to step back into the Deed space and modify the belief or value so that it is still in service of the deed but is more acceptable to the Explorer in the Word space. Some time should be spent between the Deed and the Word space finding the appropriate beliefs and values. Stepping into the Thought space the Explorer dissociates from the Deed to discover why and when they decided to do this deed which in the case of our example was to speak to a large group of people. The purpose of this is to acknowledge that at some point in time the Explorer made the choice consciously or unconsciously to go ahead with this presentation. This is the crucial point in time when it can be easier to say no than yes or we create the circumstances where this decision will not need to be made. This process is a good example of making "future retrospect" decisions. In other words it becomes a "done deal" and there is no decision to make because the result of the decision has already happened. The deed is done and we are now going back in time to find out why and when we decided to do it. The why and when do not have to be "real" events. For example our intrepid Explorer could say "I was invited to make a presentation at the summer conference because the sponsor had read my article and really loved my writing style" this is the why. "I made the decision to give the presentation when my friend Hamish told me to go for it" this the when. None of these events or people have to be real the important factor here is that the decision to give the presentation has been made. The next stage in the process is to seek the thought behind the thought - the sponsoring thought. To complete our example the sponsoring thought could be "I have something important to say and the world is ready to listen". As we know from the Just Be Cause process we create our own experience of the world and what the Explorer has now done is to remember the sponsoring thought that will create the situation where they will be able to experience their Next Grandest Version. With the creative energy of the Sponsoring Thought the Explorer steps once again into the Word space and restates the beliefs and values they hold while taking the action. By now the beliefs and values should be empowering to the Explorer and as the Guide your job will be to encourage the Explorer to notice for themselves their shift in state. Finally the Explorer steps in to the Deed space taking the creative energy of the Sponsoring Thought and empowering belief and values with them. Now the Explorer is able to re-experience the action being taken in service of their Next Grandest Version. As the Guide you should encourage the Explorer to notice how the experience of taking this action is different and even more empowering than before. As the Explorer looks back at the Thought space they recognises the decision to take this action has already been made and the thought behind the decision - the Sponsoring Thought has created the experience of taking this action now. Now there is no decision to make because the Explorer has experienced the action as being successfully completed therefore the decision does not need to be given a second thought. Deed Word Thought Process Version 1.0 Warning Depending on the individual going through the process (from hereon known as the "Explorer") some of these processes can lead to a temporary feeling of confusion or disorientation. Far from being a "bad" thing this could indicate a degree of internal re-alignment leading to positive change. Always follow the Guidelines for creating an "Earth Point" where the Explorer can return to at any time during the process. As a general rule do not drive or do anything else that may put yourself or other people at risk having been through a process, give yourself plenty of time to re-adjust. This rule applies to both Guide and Explorer. If for any reason you doubt you can safely complete a process do not attempt to do so. If you doubt your ability to safely act as Guide please do not do so. These processes are shared in the spirit of Self Leadership, please be sensible and take complete responsibility for your own actions.
